l'écriture féminine

"Write yourself; your body must be heard."— Hélène Cixous, Le Rire de la Méduse, 1960s

Writing is the expression of the self, encompassing not only language, symbols, and signs but also various forms of creative expression such as painting, dance, and architectural design. The societal "reality" constructed by the long-standing patriarchal tradition has suppressed the latent feminine forces, confining them to a state of silence. Advocates of feminine writing promote the development of a symbolic system characterized by non-linear, cyclical narratives, thereby deconstructing the existing male-dominated subjectivity order.
